Game 1: New England College 8, Dean College 0
Taylor Barbour (10-3) spun a two-hit shutout, striking out ten batters and host New England College posted an 8-0 win over Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) softball action on Sunday afternoon.

Dean's only two hits came off the bats Shelby Smith (Southwick, Mass.) and Danielle Dumont (Nashua, N.H.).

Already in front 3-0, Barbour helped her own cause in the fourth with an RBI double to left as part of three run frame that put the Pilgrims in front 6-0.

Then in the fifth, they tacked on two more runs – the last coming on an RBI double from Julia D'Andrea that ended the game.

Dean committed four errors which led to two unearned runs off of starting hurler Ali Nelson (Candia, N.H.).

Meanwhile, Alexis Hoelzel didn't record an official at-bats but drove in two runs with sacrifice flies.

Game 2: New England College 11, Dean College 3
The host Pilgrims took advantage of five Dean errors and solid pitching performance from Emily Farone to sweep the season series with the Bulldogs by taking the nightcap, 11-3.

NEC scored runs in every inning of the game and found themselves in front, 4-2 after the third inning. That lead continued to grow as Jasmin Alvarado smacked an RBI double and then Gabriella Marcheschi notched an RBI double of her own. When the inning ended after another unearned crossed the plate, the Pilgrims were in control, 8-2.

Dean's other run came in the sixth inning when Alexis Portales (San Antonio, Texas) singled home Bridget McDonough (North Reading, Mass.), who led off the inning with a double to left.

Portales went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Bulldogs, while Nelson added two hits of her own.

Dean is back in action on Tuesday when they play host to Anna Maria beginning at 3:00 PM.
