THE LEAD:
Visiting Dean College won its fifth straight game and for the tenth time in their last 11 games as they rolled past Southern Vermont, 3-0, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.

The win for the surging Bulldogs ends their impressive March with a 9-1 record and gives them their 14th win of the season after a 2-20 campaign in their inaugural season last year.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
As they have during most of the winning streak, Dean had an excellent first set, hitting a match-best .360 with 13 kills in the 25-17 triumph.

The second set saw Dean erase an early 4-1 deficit and take a 15-7 lead after a kill from Joel Carmona (Lawrence, Mass.). Moments later, the Bulldogs were in front 23-9 after a Mountaineer attack error and when Diondre Gomes (Fairhaven, Mass.) registered a kill off of a feed from Bobby Tetreault (Mattapoisett, Mass.), Dean took the set 25-13 and went in front 2-0.

In the final frame, the Bulldogs methodically built an 18-10 bulge as Dean Bennett (Bloomfield, N.J.) delivered a service ace and Juan Fernando Ruelas-Garcia (Milford, Mass.) and Gomes each recorded kills.

Dean put the match away by recording three of the final four points on a Carmona kill, a Southern Vermont error and another kill from Ruelas-Garcia.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Gomes ended with a double-double, totaling match-highs of 14 kills and 12 digs, while Tetreault handed out 26 assists and chipped in with three kills, six digs and two service aces. Meanwhile, the duo of Carmona (six) and Ruelas-Garcia (four) combined for ten kills.

UP NEXT:
Dean is off until Tuesday when they host Eastern Nazarene for a 7:00 p.m. start on Senior Night.
