THE LEAD:
Johnson and Wales hit a red-hot .491 for the match and the host Wildcats breezed past Dean College with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-17) non-league win in men's volleyball action on Monday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Wildcats opened the match on fire, hitting a whopping .579 with 13 kills on their way to the 25-14 triumph.
Not much changed in the second set as Johnson & Wales recorded ten kills without a hitting error and an identical 25-14 win for a 2-0 lead.
The third set was the most competitive with Dean getting as close as 18-14 but the Wildcats scored four straight points to regain the momentum on their way to the sweep.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Diondre Gomes (Fairhaven, Mass.) led the Bulldogs with 13 kills, while Joel Carmona (5) and Moussa Seck (2) were the only other Dean student-athletes with multiple kills. Meanwhile, Bobby Tetreault (Mattapoisett, Mass.) dished out 17 assists for the Bulldogs.
