Powered by the first career goals from Makayla Fisher (Irvington, N.J.) and Katlyn Conforti (Warwick, R.I.) Dean College won its first game since 1997 with a 2-0 triumph over Albertus Magnus in non-league field hockey action on Friday afternoon.

The Dean program, resurrected this year after 21 seasons, is led by former national champion and All-American Lisa Cropper, who starred at the University of Connecticut in the 1980s.

Dean had been held scoreless and without a shot in their first two games this season – losses to Rivier University and Sage College.

Things turned dramatically in this contest for the Bulldogs, however, with Dean holding an 11-1 shot advantage in the first half. Unfortunately for the visitors the contest remained scoreless at halftime.

That changed almost immediately in opening moments of the second half when Fisher was able to rattle the back of the cage just 1:50 into the period.

Dean doubled that lead a little less than 20 minutes later when Conforti punched home her first ever score at 55:11.

The Bulldog defense was stout for most of the contest, holding the Falcons to just one shot, which Kaitlyn Depp (Westfield, N.J.) was able to turn aside in the first half to secure her first career shutout.

Dean is off until Tuesday when they travel to Weston, Mass. to face Regis College at 7:00 PM in a non-league affair.
