Game 1: Dean College 6, Lesley University 3
Colton Fitzsimmons (Fairhaven, Mass.) tossed a complete game, three-hitter and Dean College opened up a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) twinbill with Lesley University by topping the Lynx, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldog offense was powered by the exploits of Jeff Sharnick (Stratford, Conn.) and Joshua Cerretani (Peabody, Mass.), who went a combined 7-for-7 at the plate.

It was a scoreless game until the top of the fourth when Cerretani delivered an RBI double to put Dean on top. That advantage doubled when Andrew Dirito (Plymouth, Mass.) smacked an RBI double of his own to kickoff the top of the fifth.

Sharnick then singled home Dirito and then he came home on a double by Matt Callahan (Attleboro, Mass.), that gave the Bulldogs a 4-0 edge.

After the Lynx got a run back in the bottom of the fifth when Cerretani crushed his first career homerun and then another in the sixth on a Sharnick single.

Fitzsimmons did give up a solo homerun to Brendan Fairchild in the seventh, but he was able to close the game out and record his second complete game of the season.

Game 2: Dean College 6, Lesley University 5
Pinch runner Matthew Troy (Stamford, Conn.) raced home on a fielding error in the top of the eighth inning in what turned out to be the game-winning run and the Bulldogs took the backend of a conference twinbill with Lesley, sweeping the series and vaulting them into first place in the league standings.

Travis Dinsdale (Worcester, Mass.) and Rolando Marcano (Bridgeport, Conn.) finished with two hits apiece for a Dean squad that used five different pitchers in securing a key league win.

After the Lynx took a 1-0 lead in the first, the Bulldogs answered back when Giuseppe Casabianca (Yonkers, N.Y.) launched his first career homerun in the second, putting Dean in front, 2-1.

By the time the fifth inning rolled around, the Bulldogs were trailing 4-3 but Marcano put them in front with a two-run single.

Dean looked as if they would close the game out in the seventh, but Zach Rossi delivered the game-tying run with a double to right.

Belanger, who earned the save in the series opener, scooped up the win after tossing two innings and allowing just one run. Callahan, meanwhile, tossed a perfect bottom of the eighth to earn his first career save.

Dean is back in action on Wednesday when they host Eastern Connecticut State.
