THE LEAD:
Elms College pushed across four runs in the bottom of the eighth and the host Blazers rallied for a thrilling, 5-2, win over Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference NECC baseball action on Friday evening.

The rally for Elms, overshadows and excellent pitching performance from Bulldog hurler Jason Bottone (Derby, Conn.), who went seven innings and allowed just one run (unearned).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Dean scored both of their runs in the second when Landon Fish (New Port Richey, Fla.) led off the inning with a double to center. After Jeff Sharnick (Stratford, Conn.) connected on an infield single, Fish came around to score and then Travis Dinsdale (Worcester, Mass.) drove in another run.

Elms sliced that advantage in half when they got a run in the second on a Thomas Slane single to center.

Things stayed quiet until the eighth with two outs and Bottone had been removed. The Blazers scored four runs courtesy of two-run singles from Nathan Ayala and Andy Vasquez to give Elms their first lead of the game.

UP NEXT:
The two teams will tangle on Saturday with a pair of seven inning games at the Bulldogs' Longley Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
