THE LEAD:
Visiting Elms College found the back of the net once in each half and that proved to be enough as the suddenly surging Blazers opened up New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play with a 2-0 win over Dean College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elms got it started off early with a goal from Shannon Ryan (Leeds, Mass.) at 16:20 of the first half to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Things stayed that way until the second half when Sydney Goodwin (Lawrence, Mass.) carried the ball into the right side of the box and then sent a ball to Alizaya Clark (Springfield, Mass.), who chipped the ball over the outstretched arms of Dean netminder Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) for her team-best third marker of the season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The Blazers controlled the statistical categories in the contest, holding a 32-3 edge in shots and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

Parisee was strong in between the pipes for the Bulldogs, turning aside 13 shots – her third game this season with ten saves or more.

UP NEXT:
Dean returns to action on Tuesday when they host Fitchburg State at 3:30 p.m.
