University of Saint Joseph's scored the game's final four goals, breaking open a one goal nailbiter enroute to a 12-7 win over Dean College in non-league women's lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon.

The win for the Blue Jays is their first win of the season, while the visiting Bulldogs, who have played hard in their last few contests, remain winless.

After USJ scored the game's first two goals, Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn.) found the back of the net to slice the lead in half.

The Blue Jays promptly put two more goals on the board to take a 4-1 lead but Makayla Fisher (Irvington, N.J.) and Frantzleine Nherisson (Lowell, Mass.) teamed up to make it a two goal game.

Wilks scored again before the half ended but that Dean score was sandwiched around a pair of USJ tallies, making the score 6-3 at halftime.

The Bulldogs made a push in the opening moments of the second half as Fisher scored less than a minute into the frame and then Wilks setup Sydnie Gomes (New Bedford, Mass.) for another score and suddenly, Dean was within one at 6-5.

As the contest wore on, the teams traded goals with Fisher netting another and when Genesis Johnson (Norwalk, Conn.) deposited a man-down, free-position strike, the Bulldogs were down just, 8-7.

From that point on, however, the Blue Jays took control with their four goal barrage courtesy of two scores from Hannah Lemek and two more from Annmarie Masayda.

Dean was paced by both Fisher and Wilks, who both finished with two goals and an assist, while Jamaya Cleveland (Greensboro, Ga.) ended with nine saves in net.

Dean is off until Wednesday when they play host to Elms College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action at 4:00 p.m.
