Softball Wins Both Vs. NHTI, Menzinger Throws No Hitter

FRANKLIN, Mass.  Karissa Menzinger threw a complete game no hitter in game two of the doubleheader, capping a great day for the Bulldogs.  Dean defeated NHTI 10-7 and 10-0 to improve to 7-1 on the year.

Game 1

The Bulldogs scored 4 runs in the second inning to break a 1-1 tie.  NHTI got 3 runs back in the third and took the lead with 3 more in the fifth.  Dean scored 1 in the bottom half of the fifth and then exploed for 4 runs in the 7th inning to secure the come from behind victory.

Melanie Rios Nevarez led Dean with 2 hits (a home run and a  double) and 3 RBI's. Michelle Sessa had 2 hits and 2 RBI's and Angelina Taylor had 3 hits and 3 RBI's to help her cause.

Taylor went 7 innings, surrending 7 runs on 8 hits while striking out 9.

Game 2

Dean controlled the entire second game.  Karissa Menzinger dominated on the mound striking out 7 while not allowing a hit.  Nevarez drove in 3 on 1 hit and Sessa and Taylor drove in 1 a piece.

Dean next plays Wednesday in a doubleheader at Becker.  First pitch is at 3:00 PM.
