Nichols College freshmen Lance Law and Ray Wang each threw down 15 kills to propel the No. 3 seed Bison men's volleyball team into the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Semifinals with a 3-0 win over No. 6 seed Dean College Tuesday night at the Nichols Athletic Center.
With the win, the Bison (15-9) completed a season sweep of the Bulldogs (6-22) and will now head to No. 2 seed Endicott for a match on Thursday night. Nichols posted a .544 hitting percentage as both Law (.650) and Wang (.591) combined to commit just four errors on the evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Nichols captured game one by a score of 25-12 behind five kills from Law, four from Wang, and two each from freshmen Sean Jackson and Collin Hunter. Classmate Luis Chavez handed out 12 assists while Hunter added five digs.
Law dominated the second set, posting a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage in a 25-10 win. Hunter picked up a pair of service aces, Wang added five kills (.625 hitting pct.), and Castro registered seven assists.
Wang stole the show in the third and final set, won by the Bison by a count of 25-13. The Chengdu, China native put down six kills (.714 hitting pct.) while Law picked up five and Jackson added two. Junior Oscar Chavez tallied four digs and finished the evening with a match-high 11.
