Dean College staged an unbelievable rally, coming back from an 0-2 deficit to stun visiting Southern Vermont College, 3-2, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball action on Monday night.
The win for the Bulldogs is their second straight for the first time this season and marks the first time this year they have had a match go more than three sets.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After tying the match at 2-2, Dean trailed in the fifth set early on but then took control after they tied the frame at 8-8.
After and attack error by the Mountaineers, Dean sealed the match with a kill from setter Chadd Pelletier (Westbrook, Maine) – sending the crowd into a frenzy as the Bulldogs secured the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Both teams had a similar hitting percentage on the evening, with Dean holding a slight edge (.115-.113).
Kauffman continues to emerge for the Bulldogs, ending with a team-best 11 kills and four digs, while Brody and Jaren Brooks (Odessa, Texas) each totaled eight kills and Jones chipped in with five of his own, including a pair of solo blocks.
Pelletier ended with 14 assists and nine digs, while Timothy Williamson (Southbridge, Mass.) recorded ten digs of his own.
The Bulldogs continue their busy stretch with a Wednesday evening NECC affair with Newbury College beginning at 7:00 PM.
