THE LEAD:
Endicott College won its fifth straight match and for the 12th time in its first 13 matches this season by dispatching Dean College 3-0 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball action on Thursday evening.

The win for the visiting Gulls pushes their league record to 3-0 as they look for a sixth straight conference title.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Endicott hit .583 in the opening set and pulled away by scoring eight straight points, turning a 7-6 lead into a 15-6 advantage on their way to a 25-13 victory.

The second set saw the Gulls run off the first five points but Dean rallied to close their deficit to 12-9 after kills from Bobby Tetreault (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Dean Bennett (Bloomfield, N.J.). Endicott methodically pushed their lead out and when Troy Riorden (Fairpoint, N.Y.) delivered a kill and then a service ace, the set was sealed at 25-16.

The third set proved to be the most competitive early on but the Gulls went on one of their runs that featured a pair of kills from Riorden and another from Donovan Dey (Fairport, N.Y.). When the smoke cleared, Endicott was in control at 18-9.

Dean didn't go away, however, and the Bulldogs got as close as 23-16 following a Diondre Gomes (Fairhaven, Mass.) kill and a block from Gomes and Moussa Seck (Medford, Mass.).

The Gulls eventually closed out the match on an Adam Dake (Victor, N.Y.) kill the made the score 25-17.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dey proved to be the star of the night hammering down seven kills on eight attack attempts while Riorden added seven kills and ten digs.

Gomes led Dean with eight kills, while Bennett (4) and Carmona (3) chipped in with kills of their own.

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday with a 12:00 PM first serve against Emerson. Endicott, meanwhile, jumps right back into action with a home contest against Eastern Nazarene tomorrow night at 7:00 PM.
