Sophomore Paulo Correia (Fogo, Cape Verde) scored a pair of goals and the Dean College offense scored early and often on their way to a convincing 4-0 win over Curry College in non-league men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bulldogs started the game out on the attack, and it looked as if they might jump on the board in the seventh minute, but senior Kyle Lameiras (Attleboro, Mass.) had his penalty shot turned aside by Colonels' netminder Paul DeMaio at 6:12.
DeMaio and Curry wouldn't be as lucky a few minutes later when Correia converted the Bulldogs' second penalty shot opportunity in the tenth minute.
Dean doubled its lead in the 21st minute when freshman Liam Crowley (Taunton, Mass.) stripped a Colonel defender at the top of the box and took a few dribbles before slipping a shot into the back of the net for his first collegiate tally.
Ahead 2-0 at the half, the Bulldogs added another score at 57:29 when Lameiras raced up the right flank and delivered a perfect pass across the goal mouth to sophomore Zeki Zai (Cleveland, Ohio) who tapped in the third goal of the game.
Dean put the finishing touches on the win when sophomore Davonn Smith (Lowell, Mass.) broke through two defenders and setup Correia for his second of the day at 68:24.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Sophomore Bryce Antoch (Cranston, R.I.) made six saves in net for the Bulldogs, securing his second shutout in three starts this season.
Dean is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon for a 2:00 PM start.
