FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs used a balanced team effort to defeat Thomas College on Thursday, registering a 12-1 victory on a cold, sunny day at Grant Field. The win was Dean's fourth straight and improves their record to 4-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs scored four goals in each of the first three quarters to take a 12-1 into the fourth quarter. Dean was paced by Kyle Pucci, who had 4 goals and 1 assist, and Colin Hinrichs, who had 2 goals and 2 assists. Ben Sikes also scored 3 goals for the Bulldogs, and Brody Fredericks had 2 goals and 1 assist.
Colby Blondin scored the lone goal for the Terriers. Connor Lamberton made an astounding 34 saves in the loss.
Dean got the scoring going at 12:06 in the first quarter, when Pucci dodged down the left lane and found Fredericks alone on the back pipe for a lefty finish. Thirty seconds later. Hinrichs found the back of the net on a man up opportunity off a feed from Rob Johnston. A second goal from Fredericks stretched the lead to 3-0. Hinrichs scored as time expired in the quarter (assisted by Fredericks) to give Dean a 4-0 lead after one.
Pucci scored on the first possesion of the second quarter, assisted by Jimmy Lovely. Fifty seconds later, Ben sikes found the back of the net to extend the lead to six. Pucci and Sikes both scored again midway through the quarter to give Dean an 8-0 cushion at halftime. The Bulldogs coasted to victory in the second half.
Dean outshot the Terriers 63-13 and had a 60-20 advantage on ground balls. Andrew Kydes went 11-11 at the faceoff X for the Bulldogs.
Dean next plays Mitchell College at HOME on Saturday at 1 PM. The game was originally slated to be played at Mitchell, but was moved due to field conditions.
