West Boylston, Mass. – Senior Austin McCreary (Northampton, Mass.) finished in eighth place overall to earn second-team all-conference honors at the 2017 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) golf championship on Sunday afternoon.

McCreary's top ten finish highlighted a fourth place finish for the Bulldogs, who were making their championship debut. Dean shot a second round 344 to finish at 677, ten strokes ahead of fifth-place Becker.

Three-time defending champion Babson College took home the team crown with a two round score of 587. Back-to-back NECC Player of the Year sophomore Chris Bornhorst led the Beavers with a tournament-low one-under, 143 (69-74), featuring a tournament-high 10 birdies with 19 pars.

Babson freshman Reed Wilson claimed Rookie of the Year honors with a second-place finish, firing a 147 (70-77) across 36 holes, while classmate Martin Jensen was one stroke back in third with a 148 (73-75).

McCreary, meanwhile, he becomes the College's first-ever all-conference selection after firing a second round 75 – the third lowest round of the day among the 34 golfers in action.

Michael McAuliffe (Dunstable, Mass.) turned in a top 20 performance for the Bulldogs, finishing in 19th place after posting a two-day score of 172 (90-82), while Charlie Banks (Hanover, Mass.) was 24th after registering a score of 174 (81-93).

Dean's other two participants – Chris DeLuca (Raritan, N.J.) and Kyle Bemis (Mansfield, Mass.) – ended with scores of 177 (83-94) and 191 (95-96), respectively.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday when they take part in the Saints Invitational at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass.
