Westfield, Mass. – Playing in their second tournament in the last three days, Dean College (350) posted an 11th place finish at the highly-competitive Brett Williamson Invitational Tournament hosted by Westfield State on Tuesday.
Senior Austin McCreary (Northampton, Mass.) was the Bulldogs' top finishers, wrapping up the Par 71 course in 23rd place with an 81 (+10).
Westfield State freshman Kyle Fairbanks claimed the tournament's individual crown by defeating two others in what amounted to a four-hole playoff. The final score of 295 set by team champion Westfield was their best scoring event ever.
In addition to McCreary's showing, Michael McAuliffe (Dunstable, Mass.) was right on his heels with a score of 83 (+12).
The Bulldogs final student-athletes were Nathan Tuite (Hopkinton, Mass.), who finished tied for 50th after carding a 90 (+19), Owen Madigan-Fried (Swampscott, Mass.) and Vinny Convertino (Plymouth, Mich.), meanwhile, posted scores of 96 (+25) and 97 (+26), respectively.
Dean is back in action this weekend when they take part in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
