Dean College shot 50 percent from the field and nearly 60 percent from behind the arc and the visiting Bulldogs raced past host Becker College, 78-61, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

The backcourt combination on Jordan Booker (Waterbury, Conn.) and Dayvon Russell (Naugatuck, Conn.) combined for 48 points on an impressive 18-for-29 shooting from the floor.

In addition to that duo, Armani Baker (Pawtucket, R.I.) notched his third straight double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Sean Odum (Rowlette, Texas) contributed nine points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Kareem Davis scored inside to give the Hawks a 22-17 lead with 6:38 remaining in the first half but Becker wouldn't make another basket the rest of the half, rather relying on five free throws as Dean closed the frame on a 15-5 spurt capped by an Oswaldo Terrazas (Odessa, Texas) basket as the period ended, making the game 32-27 at the half.

The early portion of the second half remained close and when Dewayne Thomas scored for the Hawks, they were within four at 45-41.

Dean responded by going on a 12-2 run over a three minute span that featured three-pointers from both Booker (28 points) and Russell (20 points).

Becker never got closer that 11 the rest of the way and when Odum knocked down a three-pointer and Josh Croskey (Union, N.J.) followed that up with a basket of his own moments later, the Bulldogs were in front 70-52 and the game was no longer in doubt.

Dean returns to action on Tuesday when they host Elms College at 7:00 PM.
